I have been joggling in my mind for long on how best to help my rural community grow-now that i know the underlying problem and if i keep quiet, i may regret it later and join the "i wish i did it " group of people in the world. The main problem in lack of responsibility of our youth-looks like a lost generation that needs to be awakened and then the devil has taken hold of them by making them drunk with the loose type alcohol resulting to broken families, youth who feel like there is no more in the world. i believe every one is called here for a purpose and if God is going to use me then let it be - i have volunteered and still am in the girl guides helping people i don't know and advocating for them,,then how much more can i do for people i know and MY people.
In my area, there is a lot of potential for agriculture both in plants and animals-the agriculture office goes round a few times but do they give them enough information, NO? our area MP current and past have been tarmacing our road for now 9 years..all the time the money is given but is there a tarmac road?NO...just 2kms of road they have been pocketing the money for their benefit not for the community benefit - how i wish this road could just be tarmaced - this would increase traffic flow and our small town would start to grow rapidly.
we once had a dairy processing plant - built by the danish government - owe unto us when it was given to the local people to manage - it closed down..how i wish for once corruption would be assassinated in my country for ever and ever...
Any way, enough of the whining--my main purpose is to get a person who would be interested to partner with me in bringing the best out of this community.
we have a small farm just 1acre and we have a small shop that can be converted into an office ...
Areas that once can look up to and serve include:
health - alcoholism, HIV/AIDS, children diseases, etc.
agriculture - both veterinarian and farming - in our small farm we have grown mulberry plants as i want to start a silk farming project ...
tourism - we are just neat the aberdare national park and this is a great location for films sites and advertisements - youths can be employed to work on part time thus elevating poverty.
construction: i would love to see our community engagingly in poultry farming since there is ready market that can almost not fulfill the demand.
Well, interested parties my contact me for more discussions, volunteers are encouraged to visit this area and i look forward to assisting where i can.
